Here’s a snapshot of what I do as a Senior Product Designer.

Sylvee in SDLC

collaborations with product designers

I work with product designers of any skill level, from interns to VPs. We work together to create small and large cross-platform experiences or create a vision for next generation of products.

collaborations with product teams

I have experience working in a multi-disciplinarian team such as product managers, engineers, data scientists, technical architects, account managers, documentation writers, marketing managers, and more.

We meet on a regular cadence like daily stand ups, weekly design syncs, bi-weekly sprint planning, and monthly retro meetings.

design explorations and systems

I use internal design systems like DRUIDS and Skeletor (Contrast Security) to design UIs and regularly contribute new components and patterns to the design system. For Skeletor, I’ve actively managed 30+ components in Figma with a headless design system.

design research

I use a variety of research tools to obtain insights: customer calls to directly understand problem spaces, surveys for general sentiments, usability tests for design validations, and metrics to measure success of the projects.

documentation and lots of it

Every design task I work on includes a brief, a daily log, and assets that are documented in Google Docs, Jira tickets, and Figma prototypes.

I used the following tools on a frequent basis:

UI dESIGN, collaboration, and prototyping TOOLS

  • Figma (preferred), Sketch, Framer

  • HTML5, CSS3, ES6, React (basic)

  • Miro (preferred), Figjam

data-analysis and research tools

  • Pendo

  • Datadog RUM Analytics

  • Google Sheets and Forms

PROJECT MANAGEMENT TOOLS

  • Google Docs, Drive, etc. (preferred)

  • Jira, Confluence (preferred)

  • Trello

aspiring day-to-day for next role

In addition to the daily responsibilities, I want to apply more of the following:

  • Collaboration - jam with specialists, i.e., UX Researchers, Technical Architects

  • More creativity - have more freedom to try out new things

  • Data-driven design - leverage metrics to drive decision-making

  • Knowledge sharing - learn/share knowledge through mentorship

Covid-19 has reshaped my values. These are the following values that I’m looking for in the next team and company:

  • Flexible/Remote Work - I can get my work done no matter where I am, either at the office or at home!

  • Diversity and Inclusion - I want to work in a diverse team because great ideas come from diverse backgrounds

  • Transparency and Communication - I believe in good outcomes come from open conversations

  • Internal growth and Sustainability - I want to continue to grow as a designer and mentor
